Jezabell.com article on "The Hunger Games" and the issue of racism

In this blog I will try to focus on the issue that the article on Jezabell.com raises. The article describes the reaction of "The Hunger Games" fans. Jazabell focuses on the relation ship between main character, Katniss or described as " dark hair, olive skin" Rue and the emotions that it evoked in fans while watching the movie. In the novel Katniss sympathies with Rue, takes care of her and shows strong emotions when Rue dies. " For a moment, I sit there, watching my tears drip down on her face. Rue's cannon fires. I lean forward and press my lips against her temple. Slowly, as if not wake her, I lay her hand back on the ground and release her hand"Collins 236 However, based on the posts that Jazebell.com presented young adults watching the movie  weren't able to get over that fact that Rue and some other characters were "colored". It is sad that people weren't able to sympathize with those characters just based of their skin colored  even though some of them read the book prior to watching the movie. It seems like people while reading chose to ignore the part that didn't suit them or simple saw the trailer of the movie before reading the book and that could of give them a pre-viewed imagination of certain figures.
In conclusion it is sad that even today the issue of racism is till present in our society and that people are unable to feel for one-another based on the features or skin color.
